Data-Driven Life: Tracking Weight With Withings

I’m determined to start tracking life data more vigorously. One step is of course to start tracking weight, BMI and stuff like that. The Withings scale does exactly that and that’s why I bought myself this scale some time ago.
You should stand on it with your bare feet, because it sends a weak electrical current through your body to measure body fat. Pretty scare, actually.
It also draws graphs and stuff and stores it in the cloud. I’ll make sure to embed them here on the blog somewhere. It can also tweet your weight automagically each time you step up on “to the plate”. That last part can be scary and pretty weird to most, but I don’t care.
I think it’s cool.
And yes I understand that your weight is something that is pretty personal. But I can’t for the life of me see how people could use it against me. I weigh in at 107 kg and yes, I should be around 95, but it’s not like I care whether people know this about me or not.
And honestly, I don’t think my exact measurements made public will be that interesting to anyone. Instead I hope that my progress will serve as context to discussions on diets, exercise and motivations.
Anyway, I actually think that the scale is rather pretty as well.
